Charleston County’s Sustainability Department to Host Climate Action Planning Talks
Charleston County’s Sustainability Department will host two talks about Greenhouse Gas Inventory as part of the County’s climate action planning. Both events are free to attend and will cover the same information.

“It’s important to understand what current emissions levels are for the County so future emissions can be reduced and climate effects will be mitigated,” said Charleston County Sustainability Coordinator Arielle Gerstein.
Naturally occurring gases dispersed in the atmosphere determine the Earth’s climate by trapping solar radiation. This phenomenon is known as the greenhouse effect. The concentration of greenhouse gases is increasing and changing the global climate. Collectively, these gases intensify the natural greenhouse gas effect, causing global average surface and lower atmospheric temperatures to rise.
