Which South Carolina City is the Best for Retirees?
Clever, a real estate data company, recently released its rankings of the best city for retirees in South Carolina. They compared five popular cities for retirement in the Palmetto State and found that the best city to retire in is Greenville.
The overall rankings are:
- Greenville
- Myrtle Beach
- Hilton Head Island
- Charleston
- Columbia
23% of Greenville’s population is over the age of 60 (compared to the national average of 21%), and the city received a recreation score of 80/100, meaning that retirees shouldn’t have much of a problem finding a community with plenty to do.
For retirees looking to buy a home in South Carolina, Greenville has a property tax rate of 0.62%, nearly half the national average of 1.2%.
