Dorchester County Council Recognizes September as National Preparedness Month
The Dorchester County Council proclaimed the month of September as National Preparedness Month at their County Council Meeting on September 6th, 2022. This recognition is an opportunity to remind residents to prepare their homes, businesses, and communities for all types of disasters and emergencies.
FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) declared this year’s 2022 National Preparedness Month theme as “A Lasting Legacy: The life you’ve built is worth protecting.”
Dorchester County Emergency Management Director Thomas McNeal emphasizes the importance of building a culture of preparedness.
“Planning before a disaster strikes increases survival and the ability to recover and return to normalcy,” he said. “We encourage everyone to develop and review their emergency preparedness plans and build an emergency kit for your family and your pets.”
