Nexton & Tanger Locations Appropriately Billed as Ultimate Sports Bars

Surprisingly with Summerville growing as fast as it is, there are very few true sports bars, and even fewer on the northeastern side of I-26 (Moncks Corner exit 199). There is the often loud and overcrowded Carolina based eatery right off the exit, but for many in the greater Nexton and Sangaree communities they are drawn to the more welcoming Sportsbook of Charleston located at 600 Nexton Square in the Shoppes at Nexton.

Mirrored after their original location at 4950 Centre Pointe Drive behind Tanger Outlets in North Charleston, the Sportsbook in Nexton reflects their websites standard ‘a Vegas-style viewing experience with top-quality food & drinks’. Simply stated Sportsbook offer exceptional edibles alongside adult beverages at a fair price. Want to wine & dine a client at lunch, enjoy happy hour after work, watch the big game with your buddies, Sportsbook provides an affable environment.

The Starting Lineup aka ‘first team appetizers’ are an inviting array of hearty handheld bites (several under $10) that easily eat like an entree and go great with a ice cold brew. Mac & Cheese Bites or Loaded Potato Skins might easily tempt the taste buds. However, if you’re dropping in after work or for the early afternoon game perhaps the Tailgate Sampler complete with four different light bites including 5 onion rings will satisfy the hunger pangs and kick off a great time with your buddies. Ample munchies for the whole team.

You know those sauteed Brussel Sprouts that your wife or girlfriend turns their nose up at, ‘forgetaboutit’. Sportsbook serve up a bevy of roasted nuggets drenched in a seasoned bacon jam that make any Brussel sprout hater an instant fan. The Pawley’s Island Jumbo Pretzels from ElJay Pretzels are a double delight. Two soft and warm slightly salted pretzels served with an IPA beer cheese dip and spicy mustard. The ideal handheld snack to complement a full dugout of beers.

The Loaded Nachos are ‘Not Cha’ ordinary nachos. Thinly seasoned tortilla chips cloaked in Sycamore Lager Chili surrounded by all your south of the border favorites including pico, guacamole, jalapenos, and a warm cheese fondue with a drizzle of sour cream. It comes with a bit of fire, so you might want to have your preferred adult beverage on tap.

Although Sportsbook would gladly let you craft your own burger out of their many toppings, fresh veggies, and condiments, they do present two signature all beef Kobe burgers alongside four everyday Sportsbook burgers that are meant to tantalize the taste buds. Enjoy a BBQ Bacon or Hot Black & Blue (sauteed jalapenos & bleu cheese crumbles) served with a side of fries for just $15.

Bringing a ravenous appetite to Sportsbook than I suggest the Big Money Burger. A full half pound thick Kobe beef patty smothered in smoked gouda and blanketed under lettuce, tomato and a medley of caramelized onions and bacon jam. Sitting aside the all-day brunch time Breakfast Burger (applewood bacon w/ sunny side up egg), the double play are a steal at $18. Damn straight they come with a side.

Steak lovers take note. The Filet Mignon Sliders are a standup triple off the handcrafted sandwich menu board. We’re talking three plump and juicy filets topped with caramelized onions and bleu cheese, slathered with garlic aioli and served on a toasted brioche bun. At just $17 it’s the sandwich MVP (Most Valuable Plate).

What would a sports bar be without wings. Enjoy a half dozen ($10) or a full dozen ($17) wet or dry rub Jumbo Wings (I’m talking juicy & plump) that come in over 15 signature flavors. Go boneless and get a dozen for just $14. We’re talking finger licking good.

Sports Book have something for everyone. The Fan Club (clever name) comes teeming with smoked turkey, black forest ham and bacon. No need to be high society to enjoy the Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich. Well-seasoned grilled chicken breast smothered in swiss cheese, ham and honey mustard on a toasted brioche bun. Sublime!

Going old school, how about creating your own platter from either shrimp, fish, or chicken entrees. Delivered to your table with fries and cole slaw for a measly $14. Filling and affordable always taste good! Pick two and chow down for $20 total. Want to save a couple of dollars, then I suggest the two all-beef hotdog basket complete with your choice of side for just $11. Filling without emptying your wallet.

Light bites, salads, sandwiches, and burgers are the mainstay at Sports Book. The Big House Salad cascading with greens will set you back $11 unless you add grilled chicken for another $4. On a cold fall or winter day the Sycamore Lager Chili with shredded cheese, onion, and sour cream will warm you up. $6 by cup and $8 for the bowl.

Want to end your meal on an equally high note. Sports Book proudly serve up slices of Mike’s Pies, considered by many to be the most delicious pies on the planet. So many options, but all just really good everyday comfort food.

Whether your preference is light or dark beers, Sports Book carry a wide variety of pilsners, lagers, IPAs, stouts, and porters. Their menu will even suggest appropriate beers to accompany select entrees. Hey, why should wine get all the attention. Craft beers have become all the rage with Sports Book offering brews from several local and regional breweries including North Charleston’s Commonhouse Alehouse and Sycamore Brewing out of Charlotte. Beers change with the season!

While ice cold beers seem to go best with bar food, do not worry Sports Book pour the occasional glass of wine alongside refreshing cocktails, and as an added bonus they carry an extensive list of bourbons (far more than the average sports bar and grill). While some eateries provide a two-hour happy hour daily, Sports Book allow for a full three-hour (4-7pm) window to enjoy weekdays. Totally awesome!

Sports Book of Charleston (Nexton) and Sports Book of Tanger bill themselves as the Ultimate Sports Bar, and decidedly so. They serve up the ultimate in sports bar comfort food and drink for fans who want to the watch the game and enjoy good times. No need to cry foul at Sports Book. They don’t cut corners, providing quality food at a fair price.

They offer daily specials and have a nice catering menu that will spice up any event at home or the office. If you’re dining in they keep their doors open from 11am until 2pm most days. Both locations are spacious and have a bazillion big screen TVs for that can’t miss sporting event. The Nexton locale offers an intimate outside garden patio as well. Express light lunches are soon to be in the weekday rotation.
