The Blood Connection Awards Blood Drive Host, Blood Donor with Tickets to Darius Rucker’s Riverfront Revival; Now Offering BONUS $50 eGift Card
The Blood Connection (TBC) this weekend announced that a blood drive host and a blood donor are headed to Darius Rucker’s Riverfront Revival as a thank you for helping save lives in our community. TBC held a two-week campaign in the beginning of September for all blood drive hosts and donors. The blood drive host who registered the highest number of blood donors between September 1st and September 14th received two tickets to the concert. A blood donor who donated during that two-week period was also selected to receive the tickets.
Madelaine Mordenti (above right), Director of Marketing for Chick-fil-A (CFA) in North Mount Pleasant, won the contest for blood drive hosts. CFA North Mount Pleasant hosted a blood drive and saw more than 125 donors.
“We are so grateful [for] everything TBC has done and the small part we get to play in it- and we look forward to many years of this partnership to come!” said Mordenti. “The heart and generosity from The Blood Connection staff and organization directly aligns with the vision of Chick-fil-A North Mount Pleasant, which is to nourish, serve and transform our team and community. I think that’s what makes it such an incredible partnership! “
Robert Harris (below right) of Florence won the raffle for blood donors. Harris is a frequent donor with TBC, donating platelets nearly 20 times in the past year and more than 200 times in his lifetime. TBC is extremely grateful for Harris’ commitment to helping his community through blood donation.
“I started giving blood over 50 years ago as a cadet at The Citadel,” said Harris. “I started giving as a young person as a way of giving back to my community at the time when I did not have a lot of money to give to worthy causes. I have just continued.”
TBC relies on community blood donors and blood drive hosts, like Harris and Mordenti, to ensure shelves are stocked when lifesaving blood products are needed. While TBC has avoided a major blood shortage, it is experiencing a blood donor shortage, leading to critical supply levels at any given moment.
As a thank you to blood donors who answer the call, all blood donors with TBC between now and September 30th will receive a bonus $50 eGift card (2,000 bonus reward points). Bonus points take 24-48 hours to be uploaded to donor accounts. To find a center or mobile blood drive location, go to thebloodconnection.org/donate.
