Philadelphia 76ers Arrive in Charleston, Week-Long Training Camp at The Citadel Begins
As previously reported, the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers are holding their preseason training camp in the Holy City. The team arrived in Charleston today and went to their first practice at McAlister Field House on The Citadel’s campus.
Head coach Doc Rivers earlier this year said he was bringing the squad to Charleston “to help prepare for next season without distraction and also learn the local history.” The 76ers will remain in the city until October 2nd – depending on what Hurricane Ian ends up doing.
“We are very excited for the opportunity to host the 76ers,” said Mike Capaccio, Director of Athletics of The Citadel. “This will be a great opportunity to show off our campus and our great city of Charleston.”
At this time, no public events or practices have been announced.
