Community Partners Come Together To Host ONENATION HEROES CUP Golf Event
OneNation Foundation has partnered with the HERO Program and invites the community to join them at their first charity golf tournament on Thursday, October 13th at the Summerville Country Club.
An innovative golf therapy program was created in 2021 by the Lowcountry chapter of the Stand Up and Play Foundation to assist emergency responders who have suffered issues, illnesses, or injuries while on duty or thereafter. Rich O’Brien and Josh Swindle, a firefighter who was paralyzed while on the job and is now medically retired, co-founded the Helping Emergency Responders Overcome (HERO) program to serve this important community need. Knowing firsthand the difficulties that emergency responders face, Josh has made service to his fellow responders his mission.
For John Richards, Co-Founder of OneNation Foundation, the work is also very personal.
“I know by the grace of God I’ve survived deployments where I have lost teammates and friends,” he said. “I am passionate about a good cup of coffee, but also about having a purpose behind it which is why we created OneNation Foundation, to give a portion of our proceeds back to serve the veterans and first responders in our local community.”
