The Charleston Battery announced on Wednesday that the club and Head Coach Conor Casey (right) have “mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.” This was Casey’s first season with the soccer club, which currently has a record of 6-21-6.

“The Battery would like to thank Conor for his service and wish him the best in the future,” said Club President Lee Cohen. “We recognize the significance of this change in direction and the opportunity it presents for us to compete at a playoff-caliber level again while making our city and dedicated supporters proud.”

Dennis Sanchez (right) will lead the team’s preparations for the season finale on Saturday, October 15th, against Loudoun United FC at Patriots Point.

“I’d like to thank the club for the opportunity as head coach,” said Casey.

Casey guided the Battery to memorable home wins over FC Tulsa in the season opener, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Pride Night, the Tampa Bay Rowdies in comeback fashion and MLS side Charlotte FC during the 2022 Breeze Airways Carolina Challenge Cup, among others.

The club says they have immediately begun a search for their next head coach.
