Press Release

The Holiday Festival of Lights is back, starting on November 11th at James Island County Park! With over two million lights, this beloved tradition offers fun for the whole family and is sure to boost your holiday spirit.

The 33rd Annual Holiday Festival of Lights is open every evening, rain or shine, from 5:30 pm to 10 pm from November 11th to December 31st, 2022.

Millions have toured the Holiday Festival of Lights, which is hosted by Charleston County Parks at James Island County Park. The holiday hotspot has earned many awards and mentions throughout the country.

Cruise along the three-mile display of glimmering lights throughout the park, featuring over 750 light displays. Don’t forget – guests can also park the car and explore many additional attractions on foot.

Visit Winter Wonderland, home of the area’s largest holiday sand sculpture, formed from over 50 tons of sand. Roam through festival shops for merry gifts, official 24-kt gold on brass collector series ornaments, toys, personalized items, decorations and stocking stuffers. Stop into Santa’s Sweet Shoppe for tasty treats. Take a ride on the train for an up-close view of the festival, and see even more light displays on the Enchanted Walking Trail. And don’t miss the amazing dancing light display!

Santa is waiting to hear what everyone wants for Christmas! He will be in the park at Santa’s Village nightly from Nov. 21 through Dec. 23. While you’re there, take a spin on the old-fashioned carousel, toast s’mores at the marshmallow roasting pits, scale the climbing wall and marvel at the outstanding giant holiday greeting card designs created by local students for the annual holiday art competition.

On select evenings, sign up in advance to see the Holiday Festival of Lights from a new perspective – from a dragon boat in the park’s lake! On Dec. 31, the festival will wrap up its 51-night run and celebrate New Year’s Eve with a fantastic fireworks display.

To enhance visitor experience and to help manage wait times and traffic, Holiday Festival of Lights organizers have identified “regular” nights and “peak” nights. Ticket prices during “peak” nights will be higher. Visitors can also save by buying their ticket in advance online at HolidayFestivalofLights.com. Regular night pricing will be $15 per vehicle if purchased online, or $20 at the gate. Peak night pricing will be $25 per vehicle if purchased online, or $30 at the gate.
