Charleston Animal Society Named National Finalist in Land Rover “Defender Service Awards” and Needs Your Votes to Win

Charleston Animal Society was recently named one of five national finalists in the Animal Welfare Category in the Land Rover “Defender Service Awards.”  The awards honor nonprofits making an impact in their communities. The organization was recognized for its lifesaving work that touches the lives of more than 15,000 animals each year. As a finalist, Charleston Animal Society could win a new Land Rover Defender for their animal disaster response efforts. To win, the Charleston Animal Society needs to receive the most votes from the public.

You can vote for Charleston Animal Society online at CharlestonAnimalSociety.org/Defender. Supporters can vote once a day from each legitimate email that they use. The voting phase runs from October 21st through November 6th. You can also vote at LandRoverUSA.com. As a finalist, Charleston Animal Society will also receive $5,000 from the presenting sponsor, Chase.

Charleston Animal Society submitted a video (see below) showcasing how a new Defender would help build capacity for the organization’s emergency transports of animals across the Southeastern United States.

“At Charleston Animal Society, we have a reputation as road warriors,” said Charleston Animal Society Vice President of Operations and Strategy Aldwin Roman, CAWA. “We respond to calls for help in hurricanes, floods and horrific large-scale cruelty operations. A new Defender would help us reach animals that are caught in difficult places.”

In all, 25 US nonprofits and Canadian registered charities, across five categories, have been named as finalists. The winners for all five categories will be announced on November 12th.
