Pierce Alexander Releases Music Video for “This Far”
Charleston-based songwriter, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Pierce Alexander last week released a music video for his song, “This Far.” The song was initially released as part of his debut album, The Minutehand, which came out earlier this year. You can watch the video below.
The video for “This Far” is an imaginative portrayal of going down a dark path with addiction. It was directed by Jenna Desmond and filmed by Corey Campbell (Babe Club), and features Lainie Robertson.
“During the time this song was written, I watched a friend of mine go down a dark path,” Alexander said. “Even though I wanted to help, I felt kind of powerless in the situation because they had no desire to acknowledge the issue. The song came to me one afternoon, and when trying to understand their perspective, it felt natural to write the song from that point of view. It was a bit of an extreme way of coping but I wanted to see the situation from all angles. It helped me realize that you can influence someone to change, but sometimes you have to just be there for them, keeping them at arm’s length with the hope that eventually they will ‘find their feet again’.”
The video was filmed at a few local venues, including The Commodore.
