Recovery Jam Announces New Artists
The 3rd Annual Recovery Jam presented by Crews Subaru today announced that local artist Taylor Redler and musician Renegade Jason Walsh have signed on to participate in this year’s event.
The event will take place on Saturday, December 3rd at the Isle of Palms Exchange Club from 5 pm to 10 pm and will feature several local musicians and artists, in an effort to celebrate local creatives in active, self-supporting recovery.
Redler is one part of the husband-and-wife team behind Visceral Home. Together, they create fine art and home furnishings. While working at a treatment center in Asheville, North Carolina, she encouraged residents to use creative expression as a form of freedom. After relapsing, she regained sobriety in late 2020 and has been pursuing full-time art ever since. She hosted her first solo exhibition in May of 2020 at the Grand Bohemian entitled (RELEASE/RECOVER) as a statement to the mental health crisis. Since early 2021, she has sold more than 200 pieces of original work.
The Renegade Jason Walsh is a retired Army Combat Veteran who was injured and discharged in 2008. After a 10-year stretch of active addiction, Jason became sober and found his love of music again. He has since gone on to win multiple awards and nominations from the International Singer Songwriters Association and the Carolina Country Music Association. He is active in his local music community of Myrtle Beach.
Along with local talent, Recovery Jam is proud to host GRAMMY® Award and 3-time GLAMA nominee, Mary Gauthier. Gauthier, whose 2019 album ‘Rifles and Rosary Beads’ was nominated for Best Folk Album, will visit Charleston by way of her hometown, Nashville, TN.
Recovery Jam’s philanthropic arm is to provide contributions to local recovery programs in the Charleston area. This year’s beneficiary is the Magdalene House of Charleston, a womens-only residency program located in Summerville.
