Milliken Advisors Receives the Palustris Corporate Achievement Award from The Longleaf Alliance

Milliken Advisors, a leading forest planning and management agency, is pleased to announce they are the recipient of the 2022 Palustris Corporate Achievement Award by The Longleaf Alliance.

Every two years, individuals, private landowners, land managers, wildlife biologists, conservation groups, consultants, university researchers, forestry professionals, agency and outreach personnel gather for the best and largest longleaf event in the nation: The Biennial Longleaf Conference.

The Regional Longleaf Awards Program, offered in conjunction with the Biennial Longleaf Conference, recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to longleaf restoration and conservation across the Southeastern United States Award recipients were recognized during an awards presentation at the 14th Biennial Longleaf Conference held at the Ballast Hotel in Wilmington, NC on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The Palustris Corporate Achievement Award recognizes a corporation with a long-standing commitment toward conservation of the longleaf ecosystem.

Milliken Advisors President and CEO, Trip Chavis believes conserving the longleaf pine is crucial to a healthy environment. Chavis stated, “We are honored to play a small part in the historic efforts to restore Longleaf pine in the indigenous geographic footprint across the southeast.  Longleaf was an instrumental component of the development of this country, and we honor it through extraordinary efforts to revive the ecosystems that once blanketed vast amounts of acres across the southeast.”

Chavis credits former President of Milliken Advisors, Lamar Comalander for his commitment and emphasis on the importance of preserving the long leaf pine. Comalander says, “There was a time in the not so distant past when longleaf pines covered South Carolina and surrounding forests. I believe that in order to maintain a long lasting, healthy forest for generations to come we must do everything in our power to keep the long leaf alive.”
