UPDATE: Several Oyster Week Events Canceled

UPDATE on 11/4/22: Due to a family health emergency, most Oyster Week events have been canceled. This year’s only event will be Sunday’s Shellabration. Organizers hope to bring the event back in 2023.

Toadfish Outfitters has partnered with Kevin Joseph (right), owner of Empire Oyster Raw Lab, to produce the first annual Charleston Oyster Week taking place from November 6th to 18th, 2022. The celebration will feature a collection of events spread across the Lowcountry. 

A portion of the proceeds from Charleston Oyster Week will benefit the Toadfish Conservation Coalition, a nonprofit foundation of Toadfish Outfitters, that specializes in nationwide oyster restoration and conservation.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Kevin in creating Charleston’s first Oyster Week together,” said Casey Davidson, founder of Toadfish Outfitters, the Toadfish Conservation Coalition, and a 13th generation South Carolina native. “Charleston Oyster Week gives us an opportunity to orchestrate an impactful community experience that directly benefits the Lowcountry’s long-held shellfish industry and precious marine ecosystems.”

The history of Oyster Week began in September 2012 when Joseph created the first New York Oyster Week. In addition to New York, and now Charleston, Miami debuted their Oyster Week in 2017.

“An Oyster Week is a manifestation of our collective human history with the oyster, going back 150,000 years,” said Kevin Joseph, founder of Oyster Week, Empire Oyster, and RAW LAB. “It is a celebration of the oyster’s role in our history, culture, cuisine, economy and ecology: past, present and future.”

Oyster Week Event Details:

• SHELLABRATION – Sunday, November 6th

  • Location: Bowen’s Island Restaurant

  • 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

  • General Admission: $100; VIP: $150

  • Event Details: Official 2022 launch party, 21 years of age and older, live music by Old Soul Band, live and silent auction, featuring oyster farms from across the Carolinas

• OystoberFEST – Friday, November 11th

  • Location: Private Estate in Mount Pleasant

  • 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

  • Adults: $150; Kids: $35

    • Limited to 200 guests

  • Event Details: Presented by Toadfish Outfitters, Charleston Oyster Tables, and Empire Oyster; family friendly, live music and DJ, live and silent auction, all you can eat local and exotic oysters raw, roasted and grilled

• ShuckEASY – Tuesday, November 15th

  • Location: Raw Lab, Historic French Quarter in Downtown Charleston

  • 2 sessions: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm and 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm

  • $150/guest

    • Limited to 12 guests/session (2 sessions)

  • Event Details: Presented by Empire Oyster Catering & Consulting, Marine Cuisine by Master Mermmelier, Kevin Joseph, wild and curated Carolina oyster pairings and spirited mixology

• International Oyster Day – Friday, November 18th

  • Location: Wild Dunes Resort, Isle of Palms

  • 5:30 – 8:30 pm

  • General Admission: $100; VIP: $250

  • Event details: Official finale of Oyster Week, 21 years of age and older, live music, raffle, silent auction, oyster roast, raw bar, shucking lessons, top shelf bars
