Charleston County School District 20 Schools and Programs Moving to eLearning Day for Thursday

Due to the potential flooding from Tropical Storm Nicole, Charleston County School District (CCSD) schools, programs, and offices located on the peninsula of Charleston are moving to eLearning or remote work days tomorrow, Thursday, November 10th, 2022. All CCSD buildings located in downtown Charleston will be closed. 

The following schools will be closed as a result of this decision are: 

  • Buist Academy
  • Charleston Development Academy
  • Charleston Progressive Academy
  • James Simons Montessori School
  • Julian Mitchell Elementary School
  • Memminger Elementary School
  • Sanders-Clyde Elementary School
  • Simmons-Pinckney Middle School
  • Burke High School
  • Charleston Charter School for Math and Science
  • Early College High School

Schools will communicate plans for learning tomorrow later this evening. 

CCSD magnet bus transportation from downtown to Military Magnet Academy, School of the Arts, Academic Magnet High School, Septima P. Clark Academy, Daniel Jenkins Academy, and Liberty Hill Academy may have limited bus stops. Please check the district website for specific information. It will be posted on the CCSD website by 4 pm.  

Only afterschool programs in the downtown area of CCSD scheduled for Thursday, November 10th, 2022, are canceled, including Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope programs not located on the peninsula will be open. 

Community meeting postponed 

The District 3 Community Meeting about the Early Childhood and Family  Development Center set for tomorrow, Thursday, November 10th, 2022, is  postponed. A make-up date has not been scheduled at this time.
