Brookgreen Gardens Announces Recipient of 2022 John S. Rainey Philanthropy Award
Brookgreen Gardens today announced Dalton B. Floyd, Jr. as the recipient of the 2022 John S. Rainey Philanthropy Award. The award, established in 2017, is named in honor of philanthropist John Stringer Rainey, who was a Brookgreen Gardens Trustee and Huntington Society member for many years. Floyd has served as a member of Brookgreen’s Board of Trustees since 2003 and has spearheaded two major Lowcountry history exhibits at Brookgreen.
“We are delighted to present the 2022 John S. Rainey Philanthropy Award to Dalton Floyd for his continued dedication and gifts to Brookgreen,” said Page Kiniry, president and CEO of Brookgreen Gardens. “Dalton is an extraordinary leader for Brookgreen and has helped support the growth of our organization through his many acts of kindness.”
Dalton is the founding attorney and senior partner of The Floyd Law Firm P.C. in Surfside Beach. He and his family have spearheaded two exhibits that showcase the native plants and animals of the South Carolina Lowcountry. The Floyd Family Heritage Farm exhibits historic, rare breeds of animals that are native to the Lowcountry and Bethea’s Garden is a heritage farm garden that highlights sustainable gardening practices and a wealth of heirloom species of vegetables, fruits, and flowers.
