Charleston DSA Hosting Free Brake Light Clinic on Saturday

After a successful Brake Light Clinic in May of this year, the Charleston Democratic Socialists of America are back for another mutual aid event ahead of Thanksgiving travel. Members of the group will replace broken brake lights and turn signals for free. All members of the community are welcome. The clinic will run from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, November 19th, 2022 at Fresh Future Farm (2008 Success St., North Charleston).

This mutual aid event aims to prevent expensive tickets and fines, and possible court appearances, while sharing the skills necessary to service our own vehicles.

“As you probably know, having brake lights go out is an opportunity for police to pull people over, which can be dangerous or even fatal for Black people and people of color,” said Abolition Working Group Co-Chair Camela Guevara. “By changing out brake lights, we show that we keep us safe, as well as demonstrate socialism in action.”
