Press Release

On Friday, October 14th, the Argos USA Harleyville Cement Plant sponsored the inaugural Pull for the ARK Sporting Clays tournament raising $11,000 for the ARK of South Carolina. The ARK of SC provides hope and relief to families living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD) through support services such as respite care, support groups, education, caregiver consultations, resource referrals, and community development.

“This event is integral to our fundraising success and allows us to help even more families as they care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia,” said Peg Lahmeyer, executive director of The ARK. “Caregiving is demanding and can be overwhelming and we are grateful our services offer support.

A total of 15 teams competed in the tournament, with each team member attempting to hit 100 clay targets. The winning team hit 320 out of 400 targets, and the “Top Gun” hit 92 out of 100 clay targets. The day ended with an awards ceremony and a Lowcountry boil and oyster roast dinner. Event sponsors included Charleston Rubber Gasket Company Inc., Jackson Kelly PLLC, Lee Mechanical Contractors, Inc., McNaughton-McKay Electric Company and Personal Touch LLC Inc.

“The Argos Harleyville Cement Plant is very proud to be able to work with The ARK in making this a successful event,” said Vince Martin, Argos USA and board member of The ARK of SC. The support we received from vendors, employees and friends was amazing and we look forward to another great outing in 2023!”

The second annual Pull for the ARK of SC Sporting Clays tournament will be in October 2023. For more details visit www.TheARKofSC.org.
