National Women in Agriculture Association SC Hosts Farm to Table Dinner Highlighting Hemp Industry, Women Farmers & Food Producers
Limited seats still available for National Women in Agriculture Association South Carolina (NWIAA | SC), 2022 Hemp + Wine Harvest Dinner being held in rural Berkeley County just east of Moncks Corner, on the historic Farm at Cherry Hill Creek, Saturday, November 19th, from 4 pm to 6 pm.
As the USDA continues to scale up investment in hemp as a climate-smart commodity, NWIAA | SC is committed to creating conversation and community for farmers looking to integrate this crop into their own agribusiness. As the premier advocacy group in the state for women farmers, NWIAA expanded to South Carolina in 2022, with the national organization founded in 2008 by Dr. Tammy Gray-Steele.
The first event of its kind to be held in the Lowcountry, The 2022 Hemp + Wine Harvest Dinner will feature an array of home made, low country cuisine including smoked meats and barbecue and by QDB’s and South Carolina grown wine provided by Bowman Family Vineyards. The event will literally bring to the table local farming advocates, food and wine enthusiasts, all focused on the importance of rural women in farming and their role in feeding the community.
Proceeds will go to NWIAA | SC, the women farmers they serve, and the organizations ultimate goal of creating a women led land trust in every county in South Carolina. Tickets can be purchased online while still available.
“Women are leading and innovating when it comes to the future of agriculture.” said Lauren Brown, NWIAA | SC, Chair, “Our hope is that by providing the residents of the Lowcountry a fun day on the farm learning about hemp, its cultivation and potential as an agricultural commodity, we can inspire the next generation of women farmers & hemp producers to join us in advancing this industry in South Carolina.”
