City-Sponsored ‘Operation Neighborhood’ Event To Be Held in the Eastside Neighborhood on November 19th

The community is invited to join Mayor John Tecklenburg, city leaders, staff, and residents for the third Operation Neighborhood cleanup. It will take place in the Eastside neighborhood on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Each quarter, a city neighborhood is chosen, based on need and request, to serve as the venue for an Operation Neighborhood cleanup.

Past cleanups were coordinated with the Forest Neighborhood Coalition and Palmilla Apartments in West Ashley and the Ferguson Village Neighborhood Association on James Island.

The cleanup will go from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. The staging area for the event will be located at Hampstead Square.

Operation Neighborhood efforts may include (but are not limited to):

• Litter cleanup
• Drain cleaning
• Graffiti removal
• Lamp post maintenance
• Tree planting
• Street and sidewalk repair
• Street sweeping
• Dissemination of information regarding city services
• Lighting improvements
• Outreach regarding code enforcement
• Right-of-way landscape maintenance
• Engagement with public safety officers
