The 666 Strategy and the Devil in Roulette

The roulette wheel as we know it was invented by Blaise Pascal. A French physicist, he was in pursuit of a perpetual motion machine but instead created a spinning device for gaming. Throughout history, as the wheel changed, it came to be associated with the devil, even producing its own strategy known as the 666. Where Did the Association Come From?

One folklore tale speculated that the wheel came into being when a monk challenged the devil to a game, who decided they must use his wheel where the numbers equaled 666. The monk won, but at the price of being driven insane. Luckily, modern roulette online has very little to do with superstitions. It was actually Lois and Francois Blanc, French inventors, that would change the device into the modern gaming machine, bringing it into line with the roulette online versions we know today. This occurred with the addition of a zero section. Even though American wheels have an added zero, the total of all wheels adds up to 666, often named the number of the devil. It is not known if this was deliberate or just a coincidence. However, it did not stop those in pursuit of a great story.

The 666 Strategy

The 666 strategy takes its name from the combined total of all the names on the wheel, and the fact that each stake must consist of 66 units. So, if you were betting in dollars, you would use $66 on each stake for example.

However, this bet is not placed on one outcome. Instead, you break the stake down into three separate bets. It allows you to cover a huge section of the wheel, increasing your chances of winning. The payoff is that any wins are only marginal when compared to your large stake.

To play this strategy, you should bet $36 units on red. Your next bet is to place $24 across seven-pair bets. $4 should go on 0/2, 8/11, 10/13, 17/20, 26/29, 28/31.

This leaves you with seven numbers that have not been covered. You then choose three of these and place a $2 single bet with the remaining money. By the time it comes to spinning the wheel, only four numbers will not be covered.

Downsides to the 666 Strategy

The downside to the 666 strategy is that the wager is so high. From a purely mathematical perspective, if chance saw the ball land in each pocket on the wheel once and you had bet on every round, you would lose four times in a session. This would be a $264 loss. Contrast this with how much you would win, and the amount would only be $198.

This strategy is also not as defensive as others like the Martingale strategy. You only need one or two losses in a row, and it can be extremely hard to recoup, as you will only be winning $6 per win.
