Gullah Convention & Visitors Bureau Hosting Launch Event on Sunday
The Gullah Convention & Visitors Bureau (Gullah CVB) will host their inaugural event on Sunday, December 11th, from 2 pm to 7 pm, at the Blue Building on Mosquito Beach Rd.
Here is what the Gullah CVB had to say about their launch:
From Johns Island to Mosquito Beach and addressing gentrification all over Charleston, we are in action to solutions and service.
This is a collaborative effort of families and businesses building multicultural community and assisting those in threat of gentrification. We want to co-create a culturally thriving Holy City that does not erase its community for tourism, but rather includes tourism as an aspect of thriving together. The Gullah CVB has regular events, business affiliates, participating locations, kids’ enrichment programs and open applications for those in danger of losing their homes due to gentrification.
Mosquito Beach is our cultural historic headquarters, which hosts 2 regular events weekly.
The Blue Building (at the end of Mosquito Beach road) is the TREE TEA house hosting herbal teas, coffee, medicinal remedies, and actual treaty between those who become members through the GCVB in association with the Quaponda Tribe (Mosquito Beach Rd. is on James Island apx. 3 miles before Folly Beach).
LEZ GIZO Kids Club will be at the center of the events and is sponsored by Growing Spirit to bring nature, scholastics, and multicultural experiences to our youth.
