Google Publishes Annual Year in Search Data for South Carolina
Google released its 22nd annual Year in Search today, offering insights into the types of questions people ask the search engine. Using Google Trends data, the company was able to see that 2022 was a year in which people were searching to make changes.
Whether it was moving to a new location, making a career switch, or taking up a new hobby, people across the U.S. turned to Google to ask, “how?”. The top terms in search categories like “How to learn…” and “How to be…” vary from state to state, but the data shows South Carolinians were eager to better themselves, learn new skills, and take on new challenges this year.
This year, Google launched a local hub that showcases interesting trends from all over the U.S.
For example, the top trending “near me” search in the Columbia area this year was “earthquakes.” The Florence area was the only place in the U.S. that had “best tattoo shops” in its top trending “near me” searches, and the Charleston area was the only place in the country that had “newt” as its top trending animal.
