Life – Watercolor paintings by Laurie Candelaria
In her exhibit, Life, Laurie Candelaria of Johns Island, SC, presents a collection of watercolor paintings that highlight all different aspects of “life” in the Lowcountry. Each piece captures the energy and essence of beach life, wildlife, plant life, marsh life, and more. Candelaria received a Fine Arts Degree from the University of New Mexico. She began her artistic career in metalsmithing, moved on to stained glass/mosaic glass, and now loves to paint with watercolor. See the artist’s work on Instagram at @lauriecandelariaart.
Fired and Iced – Fused glass works by Stacey
Fired and Iced features fused glass works by Stacey Green of McClellanville, SC. Working with layers of glass powders, Green creates glass pieces in a variety subjects inspired by her childhood in picturesque New Zealand, her time spent in the West Coast of Canada, as well as the past 25 years surrounded by the beauty of Lowcountry. While she has worked with stained glass, mosaic glass, torch glass, and blown glass, Green has come to favor fused and kiln formed glass, which requires multiple firings. “Glass can be mesmerizing, intimidating, sharp and soft, all at the same time,” Green explains.
“There is always an element of surprise when the kiln is opened many hours later as glass has a definite mind of its own. I have learned to expect the unexpected.” See the artist’s work on Instagram at @green_koru_studio.
