Warrior Surf Foundation Sends Veterans to Guatemala Retreat
Local nonprofit Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF) is in the midst of their annual retreat to Swell in El Paredon, Guatemala (running from December 29th to January 9th), where a group of Veterans embark on a week-long journey filled with surfing, yoga, wellness, and community. Located in a small fishing village, El Paredon is home to some of the best surfing in the country.
What makes these trips possible is support from WSF’s sponsors, including Fence & Deck Connection, who has been designing and installing residential and commercial fences, decks, and screened porches throughout Maryland since 1991.
“We’re so excited for our Veterans to experience such a transformative and life-changing retreat,” said WSF Executive Director Stephanie Dasher. “Our Veterans always come back from Guatemala so refreshed and rejuvenated, with a new perspective and strengthened mental health.”
Fence & Deck Connection’s Founder Jim Rubush met WSF Founder Andy Manzi in 2014, and since then, has been dedicated to helping the organization and its Veteran community.
