Registration for The Three Little Pigs STEM Challenge Now Open
Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) in collaboration with the Coastal South Carolina Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) invites families with elementary-age students to participate in the The Three Little Pigs STEM Challenge on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 from 3 pm to 4 pm at the Hanahan Library (1216 Old Murray Court). Interested parties can register at berkeleylibrarysc.libcal.com/event/10117276.
Derik Pack, IEEE Member, will read a book from the Questioneers Series (questioneers.com) and discuss engineering principles utilizing The Three Little Pigs STEM Challenge. Free STEM home-use activity sources will also be shared with families. Pack will lead the students to design a house that will withstand the wolf’s blows (hair dryer) of destruction by using gumdrops, toothpicks and a paper plate to protect the pig. Supplies provided.
“STEM is an investment in our community,” Pack said. “I’m happy to partner with the Berkeley County Library System to create new STEM opportunities.”
