The ARK of SC receives $6,500 of support from Volvo USA Operations Grant
The ARK of SC announces that it is the recipient of the Volvo USA Operations Grant through the Coastal Community Foundation. The ARK was awarded $6,500 to support general operating expenses for the 2022 fiscal year. The ARK is funded primarily by grants, donations, and fundraising events.
“We are incredibly thankful for Volvo and their continued support of our mission and operations. This funding allows us to continue to provide vital services to families living with dementia in the Lowcountry,” said Peg Lahmeyer, executive director of The ARK of SC. “Additionally, we are grateful to the Coastal Community Foundation for their efforts to match us with grantors who are making a difference in this community.”
For 27 years, The ARK has been a local nonprofit organization assisting families throughout five counties in the Lowcountry: Dorchester, Berkeley, Charleston, Orangeburg, and Colleton County. The ARK helps families cope with daily challenges of Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementia through respite care, family support programs, caregiver consultations and educational classes. Respite programs are offered in Summerville and in Harleyville to give family caregivers a much-needed break from the stress of around-the-clock caregiving. For those with early memory loss, The ARK of SC offers the Navigation Club in Summerville. The nonprofit organization also offers one virtual and four in person Support Groups and Virtual Lunch & Learn Educational workshops, Memory Screenings, Resource Referrals, Caregiver Workshops, and First Responder/Law Enforcement Training.
