Charleston County Emergency Medical Services Offering New Paid Training Opportunities
Charleston County EMS is now offering paid training for prospective candidates who want to become Emergency Medical Technicians. Open interviews will be held on January 20, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and January 26, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lonnie Hamilton Public Services Building located at 4045 Bridge View Drive in North Charleston.
Students will be required to attend EMT classes, complete coursework in a timely manner, and pass the National Registry of EMT’s exam. The class is expected to last about three months and continued employment with Charleston County EMS is contingent upon passing the exam.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must have South Carolina driver’s license showing a clean record with Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Must pass entry exam provided by the department.
EMT course participants are paid $16/hour. After the EMT certification is complete, pay increases to $18.12/hour. Candidates can apply online here or at one of the open interviews. For additional questions, contact Carl Fehr at CFehr@Charlestoncounty.org.
