HALO Announces Spring Performance Lineup

HALO (Holy City Arts & Lyric Opera) this week announced the second act of their 2022/23 Season. 

“With a mission to engage the entire Lowcountry community, we have put together a calendar of events including performances, educational experiences, and  collaborations with local partners.,” said Leah Edwards, HALO’s Founding General Director. “In this way, we are able to provide approachable programming that is accessible to all.”

Here’s a look at their Spring 2023 Season:

  • “HALO On Stage”
    • Tuesday, February 14th at 6 pm in the Charleston Library Society
      • Choose your own Operadventure: Lovers’ Edition
      • An interactive operatic experience that will delight, excite, and satisfy any lovers looking for a unique Valentine’s Day.
    • Monday, March 27th at 7 pm at the Dock Street Theatre
      • Cuba dentro de un piano
      • Cuban-American soprano Elaine Alvarez performs an intriguing recital of music celebrating the classical musical traditions of Cuba & Spain.
    • Saturday, April 22nd at 4:30 pm at the BrickYard Plantation in Mount Pleasant
      • Social Distance-SING! Third Anniversary Concert
      • A driveway concert starring local artists and celebrating the community that helps us thrive
    • Thursday-Sunday, June 22-25 at 7 pm in the Queen Street Playhouse
      • As One
      • An opera of epic emotions within an intimate frame
  • “HALO Beyond the Curtain”
    • Friday, May 19th at 6 pm at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Ballpark
      • Opera Night at The Joe
      • An opera-themed night of baseball in  partnership with the Charleston RiverDogs
    • Select Saturdays at 9am in Downtown Charleston
      • History of Opera Walking Tour
      • This 90-minute guided tour makes stops at iconic locations including the home of the playwrights Dorothy and DuBose Heyward, and the spot where  opera was first performed in America
  • “HALO in Community”
    • Slated to make appearances at schools, retirement communities, and neighborhood events, HALO’s expanded  programming ensures that you can find us wherever you are this spring
    • “We are honored to work with an ever growing list of local partners who are excited to enhance their events through performance,” said Dimitri Pittas,  HALO’s Founding Artistic Director. “When you do see us, be sure to stop by and say hello.”
