Charleston Grill at The Charleston Place today announced the launch of the Open Hands Community Kitchen, a new culinary series featuring one-of a-kind dining experiences with celebrity guest chefs in partnership with Charleston Grill’s culinary team and former maître d’, Mickey Bakst. All the proceeds from the series will benefit Feed the Need Charleston, a local organization committed to helping the homeless and disadvantaged in the community.

“The acclaimed Charleston Grill aims to bring our mission of inspiring others to life by partnering with chefs who embrace a similar ethos,” said Olivier Gaupin, the Director of Culinary at The Charleston Place. “By giving back to our local community and the communities that these chefs call home, we will help spread our purpose of enriching lives through compassionate hospitality while delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.”

The Charleston chapter of Feed the Need serves approximately 1,500 meals per week through different service venues, including Tri-Country Family Ministries, Neighborhood House, and 180 Place. Along with meal service, Feed the Need focuses on job training for the homeless and  disadvantaged, providing a clearer route to economic independence.  Bakst launched Feed the Need in April 2009 and has since provided more than 500,000 meals to those in need.

The Open Hands Community Kitchen at Charleston Grill begins on Friday, February 24th and  Saturday, February 25th with a two-day dinner series led by Michael Anthony, the James Beard Award winning Executive Chef from Gramercy Tavern in New York City. Working alongside Chef Michelle Weaver, the Executive Chef of Charleston Grill, and Chef Olivier Gaupin, the Director of  Culinary, Anthony will prepare a 5-course dinner with wine pairings. The evening kicks off with a reception at 6:15 pm followed by a seated dinner at 7 pm. Both Friday and Saturday nights will  feature the same menu. Tickets are $500 per person, with all the proceeds going to Feed the Need.

Additional events and visiting chefs to be announced in the coming weeks. For more information or to reserve tickets,  visit: www.charlestonplace.com/experiences. Please note, reservations are for one guest, for one night only, and include tax and gratuity. If guests plan to dine with others, Charleston Grill asks that one main reservation be made to ensure the party is seated together.
