WREN Statement on SC Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing for H. 3774

Ahead of tomorrow’s House Constitutional Laws Subcommittee hearing on H. 3774 (legislators’ latest attempt at an abortion ban), WREN (Women’s Rights And Empowerment Network) has released the following statement:

“Tomorrow, a Judiciary Subcommittee will hold a fast-tracked hearing on an abortion ban with little notice for public testimony from the people they are elected to serve and those who will be most impacted by a dangerous abortion ban. Even after losing this fight in the special session last year and recently in the state Supreme Court, extremist lawmakers continue to pursue radical, unconstitutional, and unpopular abortion bans. WREN will continue to fight for our rights to make our own decisions about our families, our futures, and our health.

A majority of South Carolina residents oppose an abortion ban, and even greater numbers oppose government interference in private medical decisions. WREN stands firmly with the majority of South Carolinians who do not want the government involved in their personal decisions or attacks on their fundamental rights. The General Assembly should get to work serving the people of South Carolina by increasing access to healthcare, addressing our high maternal mortality rate, and expanding paid leave so that families in our state can thrive. WREN is prepared to continue the fight to protect access to imperative reproductive healthcare for all South Carolinians.”
