City of Charleston; CHSWF Partner on Free, Family-Friendly Street Festival
On Thursday, March 2nd, three blocks of upper King Street will be transformed into a pedestrian-only celebration of food and beverages from the City and the Charleston Wine + Food Festival. The first-ever street fest collaboration between the two entities will run from 6 pm to 9 pm and will extend between John and Mary and along Ann Streets.
This free, family-friendly event will feature a musical stage, for-purchase food and beverages, and entertainment. Neighborhood businesses will be invited to participate; and Charleston-licensed food, beverage or arts/crafts vendors are invited to apply here to vend or exhibit.
“We are excited to partner with Charleston Wine + Food to host a free, family-friendly event on King Street,” said Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg. “The Street Fest will bring together the community for a lively celebration with local food and music. It’s sure to be a great time for all.”
The first free, family-friendly Festival programming was introduced in 2022 with an outdoor movie in Hampton Park and food truck corral at the Culinary Village.
“Making our Festival more accessible and inclusive is a major goal for Wine + Food,” said Alyssa Maute Smith, Executive Director. “Partnering with the City and our sponsors makes that possible, and we are excited to present our first-ever free feast and fest.”
Attendees can look forward to live music and entertainment throughout the evening. A length of Ann Street will be home to a 21-and-over wine and beer garden, where attendees can purchase drinks. Food will be available throughout the area, thanks to food trucks, vendors, and neighborhood entities on site.
