Local Comedian Josh Bates Takes over as Host of “Jokes at Blokes”
The Mount Pleasant Community Arts Center (MPCAC) announced today that local comedian Josh Bates (right) will be hosting their comedy program, “Jokes at Blokes,” in 2023. Hosted by Two Blokes Brewing in Mount Pleasant, the quarterly event showcases top names in the world of standup comedy. Bates’ credentials include partnering with The Sparrow to run its comedy program and hosting the Lowcountry Lowlifes Podcast with the Helium Podcast Network. He also performs throughout the Carolinas and Georgia and has been nominated four times for Best Comic in the Charleston City Paper’s annual awards.
“I think it’s a huge endeavor,” Bates said. “When you think of the arts community, you think of downtown Charleston and the North area. Mount Pleasant is starved for art. MPCAC is doing a good job of addressing the gap.”
Bates kicks off MPCAC’s 2023 Jokes at Blokes season on Friday, February 10th with comedians Bill Davis, Stand Shelby, and Hagan Ragland. Click here for ticket information.
