Clemson’s Brevin Galloway Turns Testicle Injury into NIL Deal with Men’s Underwear Company
Clemson guard Brevin Galloway has turned a frightening injury and subsequent viral video into a unique name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with a men’s underwear company. The basketball player rose to viral fame after sustaining an injury he described in a video (screen capture at right) as, “my balls exploding.” Technically, Galloway had surgery to fix what is called a testicular torsion.
Following the viral moment, clothing brand Shinesty announced last week that they signed a NIL deal with Galloway.
“The doctor said it (the injury) was because I was most likely wearing loose boxers,” Galloway said.
The words “loose boxers” triggered the folks at Shinesty.
“When we heard about Brevin’s nightmarish outcome, we knew we had just the solution so this never happens to him again,” said Shinesty’s creative director Ben Lauderdale.
Shinesty says they are home to Ball Hammock® Pouch Underwear, men’s underwear that feature a proprietary supportive pouch to keep testicles safe, secure, and out of harm’s way.
“Our company has a passion for testicular comfort and scrotal safety,” Lauderdale said. “It just makes sense to partner with a set of balls in need.”
The company said they are providing Galloway with enough Ball Hammock® pouch underwear to last him throughout his college career. Shinesty also gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, and said it would most likely be enough to cover his deductible for surgery.
Galloway is expected to make a full recovery and return to the court later this month. College of Charleston fans may remember Galloway from his time with the Cougars.
This isn’t Shinesty’s first time working with someone with ties to the Holy City. The company previously worked with Southern Charm’s Craig Conover and Austen Kroll.
