Darius Rucker Releases Cover of Rihanna’s Hit “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Song
Three-time GRAMMY Award-winner and Charleston native Darius Rucker on Friday released his version of Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up,” the lead single from the hit superhero film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
“I’ve been a huge fan of comics since I was a kid, and I love all of the Marvel movies, so I couldn’t wait to see Wakanda Forever when it came out a few months ago,” Rucker said. “I was so moved by this song playing at the end of the movie and I felt inspired to try my hand at singing it. I hope y’all love this version we created as much as I do.”
Rhianna’s original track has been nominated for the Academy Award for “Best Original Song.”
Both singers are in the news this week as Rhianna will be performing during Sunday’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, while Rucker announced the second edition of his Riverfront Revival music festival.
