Update: 2023 Gay Bingo Event Canceled

Update – This event has been canceled. The following is a statement from the event’s organizers:

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we’ve made the difficult decision to forgo this year’s Charleston Gay Bingo.  This event has been a favorite of many as an exercise of awareness, tolerance, and advocacy for our Lowcountry community.  If you purchased tickets, please check your emails for an update regarding your refunds.  For everyone who has supported us through Bingo in the past, thank you!  And let’s always remember that this evening was full of fun and frivolity. However, it was also paired with an important message, the HIV/AIDS epidemic still affects many in our community, LGBTQ and straight alike.  So, let’s continue to find ways to raise awareness, increase tolerance, and advocate for the end of the HIV epidemic.”

Gay Bingo, a marquee summertime fundraising event for Palmetto Community Care, will return to Festival Hall on February 16th, 2023. This year’s theme is all about Mardi Gras. Gay Bingo – where organizers say “a winner is never a straight line, and everyone has a ball” – benefits Palmetto Community Care. 

Patti O’Furniture will return as the event hostess with Diamond Giovanni, Kylee Lovelee, and Don Javi, ready to call out bingo numbers and keep the audience entertained. Bingo winners will be treated to prize packages valued at hundreds of dollars each. The event also includes catering from Rosemary & Rye.

Doors open at 5 pm. Event organizers suggest arriving early to allow check-in time, grabbing your seats, or finding your table. Food trucks and cash bars will be available after checking in. The festivities start promptly at 6:30 pm, and at about 8 pm. In addition to bingo, there will be awards for best-dressed and other entertainment.

General admission tickets are $45 in advance and $55 the day of the event. Tickets include bingo and entertainment. Food will be available for purchase, along with a cash bar.

Palmetto Community Care helps those living with HIV in the Charleston region while providing free HIV testing, education, and prevention resources. This event serves as a fun evening and an important reminder that the HIV/AIDS epidemic is still affecting many in our community, LGBT and straight alike.
