Italian Eatery and Market, Sorelle, Now Open
Beemok Hospitality Collection (BHC) and MINA Group have announced the opening of Sorelle on Wednesday, February 15th at 88 Broad Street. The restaurant is set within three reimagined historic townhouses.
The owners say Sorelle is inspired by Italy’s all-day cafes, markets, and rich culinary traditions. The restaurant features a mercato, central bar, wine room, pizza counter, and grand dining room, offering a variety of dining experiences for locals and visitors alike. Helmed by Chefs Adam Sobel and Nick Dugan, Sorelle’s kitchen says they will put a modern spin on Southern Italian cuisine made with local Lowcountry ingredients.
The first floor mercato menu features fresh salads, paninis, Sicilian-style pizza, pastries, coffee and gelato for grab-and-go or enjoying on-site. The upstairs dining room menu features a selection of sharable snacks and antipasti, wood-fired pizzas, fresh pastas, elegant seafood dishes, and other Italian fare. Menu highlights include Arancini alla Ragu with acquerello, saffron, bolognese; Vongole fra Diavolo with baked clams, pancetta, chili oil, fennel pollen; Lorrighittas Aglio e Olio with broccoli sofrito, toasted chili, pecorino romano; Grilled Local Black Bass “Limone” with fresh & preserved lemon gremolata; and Pizza Carbonara with guanciale, young potato, egg yolk, toasted black pepper.
Accompanying the cuisine is a bar program inspired by Italy’s convivial drinking culture. From a rare collection of Italian spirits and regional wines to house martinis prepared tableside, the beverage program at Sorelle aims to impress.
Sorelle is a collaboration between locally-owned BHC and the MINA Group, led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Mina. Working alongside the design team at Meyer Davis Studio, BHC restored and transformed 88-90 Broad Street into a multi-level dining destination full of sculptural works of art and elegant fixtures. Each dining space has a distinct personality.
“After several years in the making, we are thrilled to be opening our first stand-alone restaurant in Historic Downtown Charleston,” said Casey Lavin, President of BHC. “It is our goal that this becomes one of the most beloved restaurants in the area, and one that locals frequently visit whether grabbing a coffee or sandwich from the market, enjoying a glass of wine at the bar, dining solo at the pizza counter, or celebrating with friends and family in the main dining room.”
Sorelle is now accepting reservations for dinner on February 15th and beyond on the reservation platform SevenRooms. Sorelle’s hours are as follows: Mercato, Tuesday-Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm; Bar, Tuesday – Saturday from 4 to close.; Restaurant, Tuesday-Saturday from 5 to 10 pm.
