Charleston Bay Gourmet Under New Ownership
Charleston Bay Gourmet, a longstanding catering company, is now under new ownership. Chef/Owner Joe DiMaio and his wife Kieran DiMaio have partnered with Sara Prezioso, a former chef at The Darling Oyster Bar.
John G. Thornhill and Irving Peters started Charleston Bay Gourmet in 1991, and after the passing of Thornhill in 2018, Peters took over as the sole owner. Kieran DiMaio, who began working for the company in 2017, loved the idea of taking over the business when Irving mentioned retirement. Kieran, who has a background in the culinary industry along with her husband, Joe, a veteran Charleston chef who already owns a private chef company, Chainey Briar Chef Solutions, made the leap to buy Charleston Bay Gourmet.
The duo decided a partnership with Prezioso, who has been at The Darling Oyster Bar for the past 10 years, would be the right fit. They plan to keep some of the classics that Charleston Bay Gourmet has been known for, like their oyster roasts and smoked meats, all while updating some of the options.
For more information, you can visit their website and beginning on April 4th, they will be at the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market.
