Charleston County Warns of Jury Scam

Charleston County Government says they have been made aware of a phone scam targeting Charleston County residents. The scammers are posing as judges, law enforcement, and court staff demanding payment for missing jury duty.

Charleston County Magistrate staff, Clerk of Court staff, nor law enforcement will ever request a payment for missing jury duty or a court fee or fine over the phone. They will not request payment via PayPal, gift card, or crypto.

Staff will also never ask for personal information like a social security number. If you do receive a call like this, do not respond and report it to your local law enforcement agency.
