Next week, you can celebrate National Reading Month during the Charleston Friends of the Library’s (CFOL) first sale of the year. Charleston County Public Library’s newly renovated Dorchester Road branch will host CFOL’s first sale of 2023 where shoppers can find hundreds of books such as Children’s, YA, Non-Fiction, Fiction, Cookbooks, and more for great prices.

Want to get the first pick on books? If you are a member of the Friends, you don’t have to wait for Friday, you can come on Thursday. To become a Friend today, head to https://www.charlestonlibraryfriends.org.

Here’s a look at the schedule:

  • Member Pre-sale
    • Thursday, March 2nd, 4 pm to 7 pm
  • Open to the public
    • Friday, March 3rd, 10 am to 5:30 pm
    • Saturday, March 4th, 10 am to 4 pm

“We are excited to be back and kicking off our first book sale of the year but also to be celebrating National Reading Month,” said Nulani Bennett, CFOL Operations Manager. “South Carolina ranks #39 in literacy, and CFOL believes that every community member should have affordable access to books to help improve their literacy goals. Shopping at a CFOL book sale helps support important FREE programming that CCPL provides to the community such as Summer Reading, Storytimes, outreach events/performers, and more. We can’t wait to help you celebrate National Reading Month and showcase the newly renovated Dorchester Road Library!”

Looking for a volunteer opportunity to give back? CFOL has volunteer opportunities for the National Reading Month Sale starting on Thursday, March 2nd. Visit this website if interested.

The CFOL is a non-profit volunteer organization that raises money through book sales to help fund library services, equipment, training, materials, and public programming for the Charleston County Public Library. The Friends collect and sort books donated from the community for resale to raise money.
