The Charleston Parks Conservancy on Thursday announced a number of public events in parks all around the City of Charleston.

Upcoming events include:

  1. Join Charleston Parks Conservancy and Slow Food Charleston for a Community Potluck and Seed Swap from 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, March 25th at Corrine Jones Park and Community Garden, 36 Marlow Drive in Charleston. Bring a dish to share, along with your own plate, utensils, a chair or blanket, and seeds to swap (if you have them). There will be activities for kids, live music, and more.
  2. Go scouting for birds with the Charleston Parks Conservancy. Layton Register, a long-time Conservancy volunteer and bird enthusiast, leads the Birdwatching in the Park events. He’ll help participants register their findings with Cornell University’s Ebird Register for ecological studies. Birdwatching in the Park will be 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, March 4th at Hampton Park. Additional events are planned for 9 am to 10 am on Wednesday, March 29th and April 19th at Higgins Pier at the eastern end of the West Ashley Bikeway.
  3. What’s all the buzz around pollinators? Join two Conservancy beekeepers as they inspect a honeybee hive and learn all about the magic of bees. This event is 1 pm to 2 pm on Tuesday, April 18th at Magnolia Community Garden, 720 Magnolia Road in West Ashley.
  4. The Conservancy is hosting a water conservation in the garden event. Learn how to make an Olla self-watering pot to take home, best practices for watering in summer heat, and best practices for rain gardening/water harvesting in our subtropical climate. This event is 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 19th at Corrine Jones Community Garden, 36 Marlow Drive in Charleston.
  5. The Conservancy also will host its popular Brunch in the Park with Graft Wine Shop. The next brunch will be 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, April 23rd at the Rose Pavilion in Hampton Park. Enjoy live music and local food trucks. Beer, wine and mimosas also will be available for purchase. Tickets on sale soon.

“We love ushering in spring with a full slate of programs that encourage people to enjoy our stunning local parks,” said Leslie Wade, interim executive director. “At the Conservancy, we strive to offer a variety of outdoor experiences that educate, lift the spirit and deepen community connection. We can’t wait to see everyone out in the parks this spring.”
