We Are Family’s Youth Queer Prom Scheduled for April 1st
We Are Family (WAF) will host South Carolina’s only Youth Queer Prom on April 1st, from 6 pm to 10 pm, at Union Station in downtown Charleston. Since 2014, the Youth Queer Prom has offered Charleston’s LGBTQI+ community a bespoke prom experience.
2023’s Queer Youth Prom’s theme is “The Sweetest Escape” and prom-goers will enjoy life-sized lollipops, gumdrop gardens, cotton candy, and chocolate fountains. This event is designed to be a magical night for middle and high school students to be their authentic selves – to dance, celebrate and build community free from discrimination. To provide safety and comfort, security will be on-site and attendees will have a choice as to whether or not they want their picture taken.
