Garibaldi Savannah to Host Special Highclere Castle Gin Reception with England’s 8th Earl of Carnarvon
Press Release
Garibaldi Savannah, the sister restaurant of Anson Restaurant in Charleston, is delighted to host a special Highclere Castle Gin Reception with England’s own Lord Carnarvon on Thursday, March 23rd at 6 pm. Lord Carnarvon lives at Highclere Castle, the real-life setting for globally renowned, award-winning television series and motion picture, “Downton Abbey,” and is the godson to her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Charleston residents are warmly invited to attend this exquisite evening.
This event is open to the public and will take place at Garibaldi Savannah, located at 315 W. Congress St. in the heart of Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District. This memorable evening will feature chef-prepared heavy hors d’oeuvres, Highclere Castle Gin cocktails, live music and the opportunity to mix and mingle with Lord Carnarvon, the 8th Earl of Carnarvon, who runs Highclere Castle and the surrounding 5,000-acre estate with his wife, Fiona, the Countess of Carnarvon. Together, they are developing Highclere Castle into a globally recognized heritage attraction.
“I am so looking forward to visiting Savannah,” said Lord Carnarvon. “Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia and was named for King George II, whose wife Caroline stayed at Highclere. I am sure the parks and buildings in Savannah will remind me of Highclere, and it will be wonderful to explore the city and admire the trees and landscape.”
In 2019, Lord and Lady Carnarvon partnered with American spirits entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin to launch the multi-award-winning Highclere Castle Gin and the awarded Highclere Castle Cigar. Lord Carnarvon and the Highclere Castle Gin team spent more than two years developing the gin using botanicals from Highclere’s famous gardens. The Carnarvons worked in collaboration with England’s oldest gin distillery to produce an exceptionally smooth, luxury spirit that is worthy of Highclere’s history and pedigree.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Lord Carnarvon to Savannah,” said Hans Raina, general manager at Garibaldi Savannah. “Please join us on March 23rd for an unforgettable evening. We look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy an evening of exceptional food, acclaimed spirits and incomparable company.”
Savannah is one of two cities Lord Carnarvon will visit in the United States. He will also be available to sign books at the reception.
Tickets are $125 per person and are available at GaribaldiSavannah.com or on Eventbrite. Cocktail attire.
