Dorchester County’s Emergency Management Department to Conduct Communications Exercise
The Dorchester County Emergency Management Department in partnership with the Dorchester Amateur Radio Team (DART) will be activating the Emergency Operations Center on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 9:00 AM.
Members of Emergency Management and DART will be conducting the annual statewide communications exercise. This exercise will include testing various backup communications platforms in the Emergency Operations Center, the Unified Command Unit, identified shelters, and other various critical locations within Dorchester County. Additionally, those participating in the exercise will also spend time implementing backup field communications. This exercise is a critical component of readiness and preparation for potential emergencies and disasters.
DART is the county’s amateur radio or “ham radio” operators who volunteer their skills and radio equipment to serve the community in times of disaster.
