City of Charleston Accepting Applications for Mayor’s Youth Commission
Applications are now being accepted for rising 9th through 12th (current 8th through 11th) grade students in Charleston County who are interested in serving on the City of Charleston Mayor’s Youth Commission.
About the Commission: The Mayor’s Youth Commission gives young people a meaningful voice in developing solutions to youth-centric challenges. The Commission engages high school students from the Charleston area who then meet with Mayor John Tecklenburg regularly to provide input and ideas regarding the most pressing issues facing young people.
Throughout the year, members will have the opportunity to participate in leadership training, team-building activities and community service events.
Membership details: The Commission convenes monthly, typically in the evening. Some meetings will be held virtually and others will take place in-person.
Once accepted, members will serve a term lasting from March 2023 to May 2024.
