Press Release

In celebration of its tenth anniversary, Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. (Y.E.S.) is excited to host its largest event of the year, the Dream Girls Conference, on Saturday, March 25, 2023. The conference attracts thousands of attendees from around the southeast and will be taking place at the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. The annual event is organized by dedicated volunteers with the goal of helping at-risk middle and high school girls make wise decisions regarding their mental, social, spiritual, physical and emotional wellbeing.

In speaking about this milestone event, Y.E.S. founder and executive director Roslin Fields said, “Over 1,000 people have registered for the 10th Annual Dream Girls Conference from across the state and beyond. So many parents, educators and community organization leaders say that they are grateful that the conference is being offered this year in-person. After two years of the pandemic and so many being isolated, the annual Dream Girls Conference is going to be a breath of fresh air that will uplift and empower all who attend.”

Y.E.S. is excited to celebrate ten years of Dream Girls with an in-person event jam packed with nationally recognized speakers, life changing workshops and uplifting entertainment. The first Dream Girls Conference was held in 2014 and hosted 1,200 attendees. The Charleston-based nonprofit is projecting over 2,000 this year, and is looking forward to being together again to celebrate the 10 year anniversary after COVID-19 required the last two conferences to be held virtually.

The all-day conference will be filled with nationally recognized speakers leading workshops and live entertainment. The sessions will include college/scholarship workshops and workshops for parents and caregivers. The list of conference hosts and co-hosts include Reverend Byron Benton, Pastor of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Aisha Tyler of Live 5 News, Ann McGill of Live 5 News, Octavia Mitchell of WCBD News 2, Carolyn Murray of WCBD News 2, Tessa Spencer of ABC News 4 and local students Eden Rattley, LaRoyalty Jones and Ashanti Ray.

Among the expansive list of speakers and entertainment, author, youth speaker, teen relationship expert and the founder and CEO of MotivationN3D, Jackie Brewton will be the keynote speaker. Featured recording artists CHOYCE and Erica Cumba will perform. The full list of speakers and entertainers is available here.
