8th Annual Doughnut Dash Honoring TyWanza Sanders Scheduled for April 15th
On Saturday, April 15th, the 8th annual #Race4Wanza (R4A) Doughnut Dash 5K honoring TyWanza Sanders will be held in Charleston. The race starts at 9 am in the South Windermere Center in West Ashley.
This community supported, family-friendly run/walk is held each year in honor of the life and legacy of TyWanza Sanders, the youngest victim of the 2015 Mother Emanuel church massacre. The event provides funds for R4A’s TyWanza Sanders Scholarship Fund and other philanthropic outreach programs. Proceeds from this event have allowed R4A to award $16,500 worth of scholarships since the event’s inception to minority high school graduates in the Charleston area.
Competing individuals/teams will run/walk from South Windermere Shopping Center down the Greenway to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts where they must eat a dozen doughnuts before heading back to the finish line (Max of 6 people per team). Competing Kids will run/walk from South Windermere Shopping Center down the Greenway to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts where they MUST eat 2 doughnuts before heading back to the finish line. Non-competing individuals will be able to consume as many doughnuts as they want on a “one doughnut at a time basis.”
Race From Home can be done anytime after you receive your registration materials and swag bag.
