Earl Bridges, Host of PBS TV Show “The Good Road,” will Kickoff Shifa Free Clinic’s Annual Banquet as Keynote Speaker
Dr. Reshma Khan, founder and Medical Director of Shifa Free Clinic, and Shifa Free Clinic campaign cabinet are gearing up for a fundraising banquet held on Saturday, May 13th, at 5:30 pm located at the Marriot downtown Charleston. Earl Bridges, host of PBS TV show The Good Road, will start the night off as keynote speaker sharing his global experiences with humanity and humanitarian efforts, and City of Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg will attend as guest of honor.
“The Shifa Clinic has a remarkable impact on the Lowcountry of South Carolina, serving the needs of our brothers and sisters who otherwise would not be able to attain that level of high professional medical care,” said Charleston mayor John Tecklenburg.
In late 2022, after 11 years of growing the clinic to a full-time comprehensive medical clinic and food pantry for the uninsured, Shifa Free Clinic embarked on a $4M comprehensive fundraising campaign, which includes a match of $1M dollar for purchasing and renovating the new clinic from ICNA Relief, and to raise funds for three years of operating expenses to expand services to meet the increased demand. With an anticipated growth of 18% over the coming years, the new facility allows for an expansion of patients in the Charleston area to receive high quality medical care and participate in hunger prevention programs. This year’s banquet will focus on highlighting key donors who are helping them move the needle towards achieving their goal and attracting new donors to support their Sustainer Society program.
Doors open at 5:30 pm for appetizers then following an Indian buffet sit down dinner. Tickets are $60 per person or $500 for a table of 10. Please purchase tickets by 7 pm on May 8th.
