Six Shot in Beach Shooting on Isle of Palms
Isle of Palms Police say six people have been shot and taken to the hospital after a Friday evening shooting at the beach on Isle of Palms. The shooting occurred behind the Sea Cabins (around 1140 Oceans Blvd.) just before 6 pm.
The six victims included both teenagers and adults. Police said all six had non-life threatening injuries.
As of this publication, police have several individuals detained and one person in custody. They also recovered multiple firearms from the scene.
UPDATE on 4/8/23 – Two people have been arrested. One is 18-year-old Shawn Alexander Goods-Martin. He is charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. It has not been determined if he was involved in the shooting. The other is a juvenile whose name has not been released.
UPDATE 2: Isle of Palms Police Chief Kevin Cornett said the town already had extra officers at the beach due to Spring Break. More were added when they learned that high school students were headed to the beach for “Senior Skip Day.”
The six victims were all 15 and 16 years old, except for one bystander who is in their mid-30s. Those injured have since been released from the hospital
The juvenile that was arrested was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful carry of a firearm.
