“Treasure Island,” A Free CityStage Tour for Lowcountry Families
Charleston Stage is proud to present a free, fully-staged, professional production of Robert Lewis Stevenson’s pirate classic, Treasure Island. This is an hour-long family musical comedy production, produced as a part of Charleston Stage’s free CityStage Community Tour. Patrons do not need to reserve tickets for any of the tour performances and are free to bring any number of friends and family, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the free live performances outside at various community locations in the Lowcountry area.
In an adaptation set in the South Carolina Lowcountry by Artistic Director Emeritus, Julian Wiles, Treasure Island tells the classic coming-of-age pirate tale accompanied by a rousing score of Gilbert and Sullivan sea shanty tunes. Familiar swashbuckling pirate characters such as Long John Silver, Anne Bonny, and Stede Bonnet take to the stage in this rip-roaring pirate romp. The production features colorful costumes, brilliant lights, and dazzling sets on a grand outdoor stage.
